Blood pressure pill action urged

High blood pressure increases the risk of strokes and heart problems
Everyone aged 55 and over should be taking drugs to lower their blood pressure, a London-based expert says.

Epidemiology expert Professor Malcolm Law said blood pressure drugs cut the risk of heart attack and stroke even for those with normal blood pressure.

His conclusion, published in the British Medical Journal and backed by other experts, is based on a review of 147 studies, involving 464,000 people.

However, the Stroke Association warned the drugs could have side-effects.

The research found most types of blood pressure drugs cut the risk of heart attacks and heart failure by around a quarter and the risk of stroke by about a third.

The studies looked at the effect on two blood pressure measurements; systolic - the pressure when the heart beats while pumping blood - and diastolic - the pressure when the heart is at rest between beats.

The lowered risk estimates were based on lowering systolic blood pressure by 10mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure by 5mm Hg.

Widespread benefit

Professor Law, an expert in epidemiology at the Wolfson Institute at Barts and The London School of Medicine, said: "Beyond a certain age, we're saying everyone would benefit from taking drugs that lower blood pressure.

"Beyond a certain age, we all have high blood pressure and we would all benefit from lowering it.

"What we call 'normal' blood pressure is actually high, and what we call high blood pressure is actually higher."

Professor Law said the universal use of blood pressure drugs should be seen as analogous to vaccinating the entire population in the event of a flu pandemic.

There was no case for trying to assess who was a top priority, he said, when everybody was potentially at risk.

In fact, Professor Law said giving everybody blood pressure drugs would minimise the risk that people would be alarmed when told they needed to take the medication.

Among those aged 65 living in England and Wales, the risk of having a heart attack in the next 10 years is about 10% for men and 5% for women, he added.

In an accompanying editorial, Richard McManus, from the University of Birmingham, and Jonathan Mant, from the University of Cambridge, backed Professor Law's call.

They said the findings supported the idea of giving everyone over a certain age a "polypill" - a drug that would include a statin to lower cholesterol as well as treatment for blood pressure.

Professor Law is one of the pioneers of the polypill, which he says would be an effective way to cut the number of heart attacks and strokes in the UK.

Caution

Joanne Murphy, of the Stroke Association, said: "High blood pressure is the single biggest risk factor for stroke and it is important that people take medication to combat this.

"Whilst blood pressure medication is one of the safest and most studied medications, they do have side-effects and should only be prescribed to people who are at significant risk of stroke."

Mike Rich, of the Blood Pressure Association, said: "Prevention is better than cure, but there are other proven ways to prevent high blood pressure such as healthy eating and regular exercise, which have other health benefits too.

"There is a danger that these important lifestyle factors could be overlooked in favour of 'popping a pill'."

Professor Alan Maryon-Davis, president of the Faculty of Public Health, said: "Mass medication turns us all into patients and I don't think it's the best approach.

"A far healthier way is for us to reduce our risk and increase our wellbeing by consuming less salt and alcohol and taking more regular exercise."

Trade union members to get more legal protection

From later this year it will become unlawful to refuse to employ somebody because they are a member of a trade union.
The Government announced that it will legislate in this area following the revelation in March that 40 construction companies had subscribed to a database which contained a "black list" of construction workers who were trade union members and/or involved in industrial relations activity. The database was subsequently shut down.


Under the Employment Relations Act 1999, the Government can introduce regulations prohibiting the blacklisting of workers for their union membership or activities. In 2003 there was a consultation on draft regulations, but at that time no hard evidence was found that blacklisting was taking place and the regulations were not implemented.


There will be a consultation in the early summer on revised regulations and as there has already been a full consultation, this second consultation will be shorter than the usual twelve week period.


Ministers have said they plan to seek Parliamentary approval for the regulations in the autumn and implement them urgently as soon as it can thereafter.


Information about an individual's trade union membership is regarded as sensitive personal data under the Data Protection Act 1988 and it is therefore subject to more stringent protections then other types of personal data. Employers should always ensure they process such information lawfully. This would include not using it for any purpose other than that for which it was provided e.g. to enable union dues to be deducted from salary.

બુદ્ધિધનને કાર્યમાં સાંકળવા તેમ જ તેનું રક્ષણ કરવાની બાબતમાં ભારતનું સ્થાન તદ્દન તળિયે પહોંચ્યું છે .જો કે પડોશી દેશ ચીન કરતા ભારત આગળ છે તેવું એક સર્વેક્ષણમાં સિદ્ધ થયું છે.
યુરોપની સર્વેક્ષણ કરનારી કાનૂની કંપની ટેલર વેસિંગ એલએલપી દ્વારા બુદ્ધધનના સંરક્ષણ અને તેને કાર્યશીલ બનાવવાના પ્રયાસો જે દેશમાં ગંભીરતાથી યોજવામાં આવતા હોય તેવા ૨૪ દેશોમાં આ સર્વેક્ષણ હાથ ધરાયું હતું. જેમાં ભારતનો નંબર ૨૩મો આવ્યો છે. જોકે ભારતને આશ્વાસન લેવા જેવી બાબત એક જ છે અને તે એ કે તે આઇપીની તુલનાત્મક રક્ષા સંદર્ભે ગ્લોબલ ઇન્ટેલેક્ચ્યુઅલ પ્રોપર્ટી ઇન્ડેક્સ ૨૦૦૯ મુજબ ચીન કરતા આગળ છે.

•યુરોપિયન કંપની દ્વારા કરવામાં આવેલા સર્વેનું તારણટેલર વેસિંગના ગ્લોબલ ઇન્ટેલેકચ્યુઅલ પ્રોપર્ટી ઇન્ડેક્સ (જીઆઇપીઆઇ) અનુસાર બ્રિટન સૌથી અગ્રીમ સ્થાને છે. બીજા ક્રમે જર્મની અને તે પછી અમેરિકાનો નંબર આવ્યો છે. આ સર્વેક્ષણમાં બૌદ્ધિક વિભાગીકરણ દ્વારા કયા પ્રકારે સુરક્ષા પૂરી પડાય છે તેનો વિસ્તૃત અભ્યાસ કરાયો છે તેવો કંપનીએ દાવો કર્યો હતો. આ સ્પર્ધામાં ભારતને ૫૨૧ આંક આપવામાં આવ્યા હતા. આ આંક કયો દેશ તેમના બુદ્ધધનને રક્ષવા કયા પ્રકારના પગલાં લે છે તેના આધારે આપવામાં આવે છે. જેમાં રશિયા ૨૧મા અને બ્રાઝિલ ૨૨મા સ્થાને છે જ્યારે ૨૩મા સ્થાને ભારત છે.

તાતા, SBI, ઇન્ફોસિસ વિશ્વની ૫૦ સૌથી પ્રતિષ્ઠિત કંપનીઓમાં

તાતા ગ્રૂપ, ભારતીય સ્ટેટ બેન્ક (એસબીઆઇ) અને ઇન્ફોસિસ ટેક્નોલોજીસ સહિત કુલ ૧૭ ભારતીય કંપનીઓએ વિશ્વની સૌથી પ્રતિષ્ઠિત ૨૦૦ કંપનીઓની યાદીમાં સ્થાન મેળવ્યું છે. તેમાંથી પાંચ કંપનીઓ ટોપ ફિફ્ટીમાં સ્થાન મેળવવામાં સફળ રહી છે.

•૨૦૦ કંપનીઓની યાદીમાં કુલ ૧૭ ભારતીય કંપની•ઇટાલીની ચોકલેટ કંપની ફેરેરો મોખરે, આઇકી બીજા, જોન્સન એન્ડ જોન્સન ત્રીજા ક્રમે
અમેરિકાસ્થિત રેપ્યુટેશન ઇન્સ્ટિટયૂટે જાહેર કરેલી યાદીમાં તાતા ગ્રૂપને ૧૧મો ક્રમ અપાયો છે. શૂન્યથી ૧૦૦ સુધીના સ્કેલમાં ૮૦.૮૯ના સ્કોર સાથે તાતા ગ્રૂપે આ યાદીમાં ગૂગલ, માઇક્રોસોફ્ટ, જનરલ ઇલેક્ટ્રિક, ટોયોટા, કોકા-કોલા, ઇન્ટેલ અને યુનિલિવર જેવી અગ્રણી વૈશ્વિક કંપનીઓને પાછળ છોડી દીધી છે. હાલના તબક્કે વિશ્વની સૌથી પ્રતિષ્ઠિત કંપની તરીકે બહુમાન ચોકલેટ બનાવતી ઇટાલીસ્થિત કંપની ફેરેરોએ ૮૩.૫૨ના સ્કોર સાથે મેળવ્યું છે. બીજો ક્રમ આઇકી કંપનીએ મેળવ્યો છે.
રેપ્યુટેશન ઇન્સ્ટિટયૂટે વિશ્વની સૌથી પ્રતિષ્ઠિત ૨૦૦ કંપનીઓની આ યાદી તૈયાર કરવા જે-તે કંપનીને ઘરઆંગણે ઓછામાં ઓછા ૧૦૦ લોકોએે વિશ્વાસ, શાખ, ચાહના અને સારી લાગણી એમ કુલ ચાર બાબતો અંગે આપેલા અભિપ્રાય ધ્યાનમાં લીધા હતા.
ભારતની સૌથી મોટી બેન્ક એસબીઆઇ ૭૮.૧૧ના સ્કોર સાથે ૨૯મા અને દેશની બીજા ક્રમની સૌથી મોટી સોફ્ટવેર નિકાસકાર કંપની ઇન્ફોસિસ ૭૭.૪૫ના સ્કોર સાથે ૩૯મા ક્રમે રહી હતી. લાર્સન એન્ડ ટુબ્રો ૭૬.૫૮ના સ્કોર સાથે ૪૭મા ક્રમે હતી તો દેશની સૌથી મોટી કાર ઉત્પાદક કંપની મારુતિ સુઝુકીએ ૭૬.૨૬ના સ્કોર સાથે ૪૯મો ક્રમ મેળવ્યો હતો.
યાદીમાં સામેલ અન્ય ભારતીય કંપનીઓમાં હિન્દુસ્તાન યુનિલિવર (૬૯મા ક્રમે), આઇટીસી લિ. (૯૫), કેનેરા બેન્ક (૧૦૨), હિન્દુસ્તાન પેટ્રોલિયમ (૧૧૧), ઇન્ડિયન ઓઇલ (૧૧૨), વિપ્રો (૧૧૬), મહિન્દ્રા એન્ડ મહિન્દ્રા (૧૩૭), ભારતી એરટેલ (૧૬૩), બેન્ક ઓફ બરોડા (૧૭૪), ભારત પેટ્રોલિયમ (૧૭૫) અને પંજાબ નેશનલ બેન્ક (૧૭૭)નો સમાવેશ થાય છે.
અમેરિકાની સૌથી પ્રતિષ્ઠિત કંપનીઓમાં ટોચના ક્રમે રહેલી જોન્સન એન્ડ જોન્સન વૈશ્વિક સ્તરે ત્રીજા ક્રમે રહી હતી. ચોથો અને પાંચમો ક્રમ બ્રાઝિલની અનુક્રમે પેટ્રોબ્રાસ અને સાદિયા કંપનીઓને મળ્યો હતો.
પસંદગીના માપદંડ

ગુજરાતીઓ માટે આગામી સપ્ટેમ્બર મહિનો યાદગાર બની રહેશે કારણ કે ૨૦ સપ્ટેમ્બર, ૨૦૦૯થી રાજ્યમાં મોબાઈલ નંબર પોર્ટેબિલિટી(એમએનપી)નો અમલ શરૂ થઈ જશે. મતલબ કે એ દિવસથી કોઈ પણ મોબાઈલ ફોનધારક તેનો નંબર બદલ્યા વિના જ ર્સિવસ પ્રોવાઈડર કંપની એટલે કે મોબાઈલ ઓપરેટર બદલાવી શકશે. આ અંગે ટેલિકોમ વિભાગે જાહેરનામું બહાર પાડી દીધું છે. ગુજરાત ઉપરાંત ચાર મહાનગરો-દિલ્હી, મુંબઈ, કોલકાતા, ચેન્નઈ-અને મહારાષ્ટ્રમાં પણ એમએનપીનો એ જ દિવસથી અમલ થઈ જશે.
મોબાઈલ ફોનનંબર બદલ્યા વિના ર્સિવસ પ્રોવાઈડર બદલી શકાશે
ટેલિકોમ વિભાગે બહાર પાડેલા જાહેરનામામાં કહ્યું છે કે ‘મોબાઈલ નંબર પોર્ટેબિલિટીનો અમલ લાઈસન્સ જારી કરાયું છે તેવા ઝોન-૧ના દિલ્હી, મુંબઈ, મહારાષ્ટ્ર અને ગુજરાત ર્સિવસ એરિયા અને ઝોન-૨માં આવતા કોલકાતા, તમિળનાડુ, ચેન્નઈ, આંધ્રપ્રદેશ અને કર્ણાટક ર્સિવસ એરિયામાં લાઈસન્સ જારી કરાયાના છ મહિનામાં એટલે કે ૨૦ સપ્ટેમ્બર, ૨૦૦૯ સુધીમાં અને દેશના બાકીના ભાગોમાં ૨૦ માર્ચ, ૨૦૧૦ સુધીમાં અમલ કરવાનો રહેશે.’
મોબાઈલ નંબર પોર્ટેબિલિટી ર્સિવસ પૂરી પાડવા માટે ઝોન-૧ માટે સાઈનિવર્સ ટેક્નોલોજીઝને અને ઝોન-૨ માટે એમએનપી ઈન્ટરકનેક્શનને ટેલિકોમ વિભાગે લાઈસન્સ જારી કર્યા છે. ટેલિકોમ વિભાગે આ ઉપરાંત કહ્યું છે કે એમએનપી સંબંધિત ટ્રાન્ઝેક્શન ફી સહિતના વિવિધ ચાર્જ ટેલિકોમ રેગ્યુલેટરી ઓથોરિટી ઓફ ઈન્ડિયા(ટ્રાઈ) દ્વારા નક્કી કરવામાં આવશે. જોકે સૂત્રોએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે આ ચાર્જિસ રૂ. ૩૦૦થી ઓછા હશે અને ર્સિવસ પ્રોવાઈડર બદલવા માટે માત્ર બે દિવસનો સમય જ લાગશે.
ટ્રાઈએ એમએનપી સંબંધિત ચાર્જ ઓછા રાખવા પર ખાસ ભાર મૂક્યો છે, કારણ કે ચાર્જ ઓછો હશે તો જ ગ્રાહકો તેનો લાભ લેવા માટે પ્રોત્સાહિત થશે અને ર્સિવસ પ્રોવાઈડર બદલશે અને એ જ બાબત ટેલિકોમ કંપનીઓ માટે પણ બિઝનેસનું યોગ્ય મોડેલ બની રહેશે.

दुनिया के सात महापाप (deadly sins) क्या हैं?

पेटूपन न सिर्फ़ बुराईयों की जड़ है यह आपका स्वास्थ भी ख़राब करता है
आप में से अकसर लोगों ने दुनिया के सात आश्चर्य के बारे में सुना पढ़ा और देखा होगा इन अजूबों में अब भारत का ताजमहल भी शामिल है, लेकिन क्या आप सात महापाप के बारे में भी जानते हैं?
नए साल से गले मिलने और साथ ही पुराने साल को अलविदा कहने का समय आ गया है. पूरे विश्व में इस वक़्त मस्ती और एक प्रकार के जश्न का माहौल है और लोग न जाने कितने प्रकार के संकल्प और प्रतिज्ञा के बारे में सोच रहे होंगे...
इस मौक़े पर हम लेकर आए हैं दुनिया के सात महापाप. क्या होते हैं ये सात महापाप? अंग्रेज़ी भाषा और पश्चिमी साहित्य एवं संस्कृति में इसे किस प्रकार देखा जाता है?
अंग्रेज़ी में इन्हें सेवेन डेडली सिंस (Seven deadly sins) या कैपिटल वाइसेज़ (Capital vices) या कारडिनल सिंस (Cardinal sins) भी कहा जाता है.
जब से मनुष्य ने होश संभाला है तभी से उनमें पाप-पुण्य, भलाई-बुराई, नैतिक-अनैतिक जैसे आध्यात्मिक विचार मौजूद हैं. सारे धर्म और हर क्षेत्र में इसका प्रचलन किसी न किसी रूप में ज़रूर है.
यह सेवेन डेडली सिंस (Seven deadly sins) या कैपिटल वाइसेज़ (Capital vices) या कारडिनल सिंस (Cardinal sins) इस प्रकार हैं:


लस्ट (Lust)
ग्लूटनी (Gluttony)
ग्रीड (Greed)
स्लौथ (Sloth)
रैथ (Wrath)
एनवी (Envy)
प्राइड (Pride)
यह सारे शब्द भाववाचक संज्ञा (Abstract Noun) के रूप हैं लेकिन इनमें से कई का प्रयोग क्रिया और विशेषण के रूप में भी होता है. अगर इन्हें ग़ौर से देखें तो पता चलता है कि इन सारे महापाप की हर जगह भरमार है और हम में से हर एक इसमें से किसी न किसी पाप से ग्रसित है.
पुराने ज़माने में इन सब को बड़े पाप में शामिल किया जाता था और उनसे बचने की शिक्षा दी जाती थी. पुराने ज़माने में ईसाई धर्म में इन सबको घोर पाप की सूची में रखा गया था क्यों की इनकी वजह से मनुष्य सदा के लिए दोषित ठहरा दिया जाता था और फिर बिना कंफ़ेशन के मुक्ति का कोई चारा नहीं था.
लस्ट (Lust) यानी उत्कंठा, लालसा, कामुकता, कामवासना (Intense or unrestrained sexual craving) यह मनुष्य को दंडनिय अपराध की ओर ले जाते हैं और इनसे समाज में कई प्रकार की बुराईयां फैलती हैं. विशेषण में इसे लस्टफुल (lustful) कहते हैं
ग्लूटनी (Gluttony) यानी पेटूपन. इसे भी सात महापापों में रखा गया है. जी हां दुनिया भर में तेज़ी से फैलने वाले मोटापे को देखें तो यह सही लगता है की पेटूपन बुरी चीज़ हैं और हर ज़माने में पेटूपन की निंदा हुई है और इसका मज़ाक़ उड़ाया गया है. ठूंस कर खाने को महा पाप में इस लिए रखा गया है कि एक तो इसमें अधिक खाने की लालसा है और दूसरे यह ज़रूरतमंदों के खाने में हस्तक्षेप का कारण है.
मध्यकाल में लोगों ने इसे विस्तार से देखा और इसके लक्षण में छह बातें बताईं जिनसे पेटूपन साबित होता है. वह इस प्रकार हैं.

eating too eagerly
eating too daintily
eating too fervently

ग्रीड (Greed) यानी लालच, लोभ. यह भी लस्ट और ग्लूटनी की तरह है और इसमें में अत्यधिक प्रलोभन होता है. चर्च ने इसे सात महापाप की सूची में अलग से इस लिए रखा है कि इस से धन-दौलत की लालच शामिल है (An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth)
स्लौथ (Sloth) यानी आलस्य, सुस्ती और काहिली (Aversion to work or exertion; laziness; indolence). पहले स्लौथ का अर्थ होता था उदास रहना, ख़ुशी न मनाना और इसे महापाप में इसलिए रखा गया था कि इस से ख़ुदा की दी हुई चीज़ से परहेज़ करना. इस अर्थ का पर्याय आज melancholy, apathy, depression, और joylessness होगा. बाद में इसे इसलिए पाप में शामिल रखा गया क्योंकि इस की वजह से आदमी अपनी योग्यता और क्षमता का प्रयोग नहीं करता है.
रैथ (Wrath) ग़ुस्सा, क्रोध, आक्रोश. इसे नफ़रत और ग़ुस्से का मिला जुला रूप कहा जा सकता है जिस में आकर कोई कुछ भी कर जाता है. यह सात महापाप में अकेला पाप है जिसमें हो सकता है कि आपका अपना स्वार्थ शामिल न हो (Forceful, often vindictive anger)
एनवी (Envy) यानी ईर्ष्या, डाह, जलन, हसद. यह ग्रीड यानी लालच से इस अर्थ में अलग है कि ग्रीड में धन-दौलत ही शामिल है जबकि यह उसका व्यापक रूप है. यह महापाप इस लिए है कि कोई गुण किसी में देख कर उसे अपने में चाहना और दूसरे की अच्छी चीज़ को देख न पाना.
प्राइड (Pride) यानी घमंड, अहंकार, अभिमान को सातों माहापाप में सबसे बुरा पाप समझा जाता है और किसी भी धर्म में इसकी कठोर निंदा और भर्त्सना की गई है. इसे सारे पाप की जड़ समझा जाता क्योंकि सारे पाप इसी के पेट से निकलते हैं. इसमें ख़ुद को सबसे महान समझना और ख़ुद से अत्यधिक प्रेम शामिल है.
अंग्रेज़ी के सुप्रसिद्ध नाटककार क्रिस्टोफ़र मारलो ने अपने नाटक डॉ. फ़ॉस्टस में इन सारे पापों का व्यक्तियों के रूप में चित्रण किया है. उनके नाटक में यह सारे महापाप इस क्रम pride, greed, envy, wrath, gluttony, sloth, lust में आते हैं.
अब जबकि आपने सात अजूबों के साथ सात महापाप भी देख लिया तो ज़रा सात महापुण्य भी देख लें. यह इस प्रकार हैं.

प्राइड (Pride)

Chastity पाकीज़गी, विशुद्धता
Temperance आत्म संयम, परहेज़
Charity यानी दान, उदारता,
Diligence यानी परिश्रमी,
Forgiveness यानी क्षमा, माफ़ी
Kindness यानी रहम, दया,
Humility विनम्रता, दीनता, विनय

सोक्रेटीज के पास एक आदमी मिलने आया । वह एक बड़ा धनपति था और ' एथेंन्स ' में उससे बड़ा कोय धनपति नही था उसकी अकड़ स्वाभाविक थी रस्ते पर भी चलता था , तो उसकी चाल अलग थी बात करता था , लोगो की तरफ़ देखता था , तो उसका ढंग अलग था हर जगह उसका अंहकार था । वह सोक्रेटीज से मिलने आया ।

सोक्रेटीज ने उसे बिठाकर कहा की बेठो, में अभी आया , भीतर गया और दुनिया का नक्शा ले आया और पूछने लगा इस दुनिया के नक्शे पर युनान कहा हे ? -छोटासा सा युनान ! उस आदमीने बताया , पर उसने कहा यह पूछते क्यो हो ? वह थोड़ा बेचेने हुआ सोक्रेटीज ने कहा और मुझे बताओ की युनान में एथेंन्स कहा हे ? बस एक छोटा - सा बिन्दु था । पर उस आदमीने कहा पूछते क्यो हो ? सोक्रेटीज ने कहा , बस एक सवाल और ! इस एथेंन्स में तुम्हारा महेल कहा हे ? तो तुम क्यो अब इतने अकड़े हो ?


और यह पृथ्वी का नक्शा सब कुछ नही । कोई चार अरब सूर्य हे और इन चार अरब सूर्यो की अपनी अपनी पृथ्वियां हे । और अब विज्ञानिक कहेते हे चार अरब भी हम जहा तक जान पाते हे , वहा तक हे आगे विस्तार का कोय अंत नहीं हे . जितना हमारा दूरबिन सशक्त होते जाते हे उतनी बड़ी सीमा होती जाती हे . सीमा का कोइ अंत नहीं मालूम होता . तुम उसमे कहा हो ? लेकिन बुद्धि बड़ी अकडी हे छोटा सा सर हे उस सर में छोटी सी बुद्धि हे - कोइ डेढ किलो वजन हे खोपडी का . उस डेढ किलो वजन में सारा सब कुछ हे पर बड़ी अकड़ हे बड़े तर्क हे

विज्ञापन की सारी कला ही इस बात पर आधारित है : दोहराए जाओ। फिर चाहे करीना का सौन्दर्य हो, चाहे शाहरुखान का, सबका राज़ लक्स टायलेट साबुन में है। दोहराए जाओ—अखबारों में फिल्मों में, रेडियो पर, टेलीविजन पर—और धीरे-धीरे लोग मानने लगेंगे। और एक अचेतन छाप पड़ जाती है। और फिर तुम जब बाजार में साबुन खरीदने जाओगे और दुकानदार पूछेगा, कौन-सा साबुन ? तो तुम सोचते हो कि तुम लक्स टायलेट खरीद रहे हो, लक्स टायलेट दे दो। तुम यही सोचते हो, यही मानते हो कि तुमने खरीदा, मगर तुम भ्रांति में हो। पुनरुक्ति ने तुम्हें सम्मोहित कर दिया।नये-नये जब पहली दफा विद्युत के विज्ञापन बने तो थिर होते थे। फिर वैज्ञानिकों ने कहा कि थिर का यह परिणाम नहीं होता। जैसे लक्स टायलेट लिखा हो बिजली के अक्षरों में और थिर रहे अक्षर, तो आदमी एक ही बार पढ़ेगा। लेकिन अक्षर जलें, बुझें, जले, बुझें, तो जितनी बार जलेंगे, बुझेंगे, उतनी बार पढ़ने के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ेगा। तुम चाहे कार में ही क्यों न बैठकर गुजर रहे होओ, जितनी देर तुम्हें बोर्ड के पास से गुजरने में लगेगी, उतनी देर में कम-से-कम दस-पंद्रह दफा अक्षर जलेंगे, बुझेंगे, उतनी बार पुनरुक्ति हो गयी। उतनी पुनरुक्ति तुम्हारे भीतर बैठ गयी।

ટ્રાફિક સિગ્નલમાં લાલ સિગ્નલ દેખાતાં જ વાહનને બ્રેકમારીને રોકી દેવું પડતું હોય છે. ત્યાર બાદ બે મિનિટ રોકાઈ યલો સિગ્નલ બાદ લીલી લાઈટ થયા પછી આગળ વધતા હોઈએ છીએ. જીવનમાં પણ આવા સિગ્નલના નિયમોને અનુસરવું આપણા માટે હિતાવહ છે. આપણા મનના પૂરઝડપે દોડી રહેલા વિચારો અને આવેશોની ગતિને આપણે રોકતા શીખવું પડશે. ત્યાર બાદ એના ઉપર થોડો સમય વિચાર કરી પછી આગળ વધવું જોઈએ. આ રીતે આપણા વિચારોના ટ્રાફિકને નિયંત્રિત અને સુવ્યવસ્થિત રાખવા ‘જીંર્ૅ, ્રૈહા શ્ ય્ર્’ના સિગ્નલોનું આપણે પાલન કરવું રહ્યું ! એકવીસમી સદીમાં જેટની ગતિએ આગળ વધતો માણસ આજે ભારે ચિંત્ ાા અને અસલામતી અનુભવી રહ્યો છે. આજે ગમે તે ભોગે અને બને તેટલા ઓછા સમયમાં વધુ ને વધુ ધનવાન બનવાની હરીફાઈમાં લોકો ઊતર્યા હોય એમ લાગે છે. જીવનની આ આંધળી દોટમાં ક્યારેક માણસે ખુદ જિંદગીથી હાથ પણ ધોઈ નાખવા પડતા હોય છે. વ્યર્થની આ ભાગદોડ ચિંતા, ઈર્ષ્યા-દ્વેષ તથા નેગેટિવ વૃત્તિઓને કારણે હાઈ બી.પી., ડિપ્રેશન, નર્વસ બ્રેકડાઉન, હૃદયરોગ તથા અનેક પ્રકારની માનસિક બીમારીઓનો આંક દિવસે ને દિવસે વધુ ને વધુ ઊંચો જતો જાય છે. આજે આપણે કોઈ પણ ક્ષેત્રમાં કામ કરતા હોઈએ, કોઈ ડોક્ટર હોય કે વકીલ, પ્રોફેસર હોય કે વૈજ્ઞાાનિક, એન્જિનિયર હોય કે વેપારી, અધિકારી હોય કે સામાન્ય કર્મચારી સહુ કોઈ આવતી કાલની ચિંતા અને વિવિધ પ્રકારના અકારણ ભયથી ગ્રસ્ત હોઈએ છીએ. મનોવૈજ્ઞાાનિક જેમ્સ કહે છે કે, વર્તમાન અને ભવિષ્યની નિરર્થક ચિંતાઓ તથા વ્યર્થની ભાગદોડ, હરીફાઈની ભાવના અને મનમાં છુપાયેલા વિવિધ પ્રકારના ભયના કારણે શરીરના સમગ્ર નાડીતંત્ર ઉપર ભારે દબાણ થતું હોય છે. જેને કારણે અનેક પ્રકારના માનસિક રોગો થતા હોય છે, જે અકાળ મૃત્યુનું કારણ બનતા હોય છે. જીવનના આ કટુસત્યને આપણે ખૂબ સારી રીતે જાણતા હોઈએ છીએ, પરંતુ ટ્રાફિકના નિયમોના ઉલ્લંઘનની જેમ ઉપર કહ્યું તે પ્રમાણેના જીવનના સિગ્નલોની પણ આપણે અવગણના કરતાં હોઈએ છીએ. દુનિયાદારીમાં તો આવું બધું ચાલ્યા કરે, એમ કહી મનને મનાવી લેતાં હોઈએ છીએ, પરંતુ હવે સાવધાન થવાનો સમય આવી પહોંચ્યો છે. ‘થોભો, વિચારો અને આગળ વધો’ એ સૂત્રને અપનાવી આગળ વધવાની આપણને સહુને આ છેલ્લી ચેતવણી છે.

Skincare specialist Murad used Google's content network to increase sales of cellulite treatments 15 percent and reduce overall cost-per-acquisition.
Careful Planning
After treating nearly 50,000 patients with every conceivable skin condition, Dr. Howard Murad, a dermatologist and pharmacist, was inspired to create his own line of skincare products. He founded Murad, Inc. in 1987 in southern California, and set out to turn his practical theories into targeted treatments that alleviate a variety of frustrating skin concerns, from acne and sun protection to anti-aging and cellulite.

Murad first established an online presence in the mid-nineties and began to use its website increasingly to connect with customers. Today, the Internet is a major channel in Murad's marketing strategy, and the company relies on Google AdWords™ for much of its paid search marketing. "We've used Google as a key part of our online marketing efforts for years — even before Google AdWords came along," says Katherine LaFranchise, senior director of online marketing for Murad. "We are well versed in the marketing power Google provides."

Hitting a ceiling
Over the past five years, Murad's return on investment from search marketing increased continually. But online sales for one of its nine product lines — cellulite treatment — had hit a ceiling. The company needed to increase sales without increasing its acquisition costs. To break through this ceiling, Murad turned to its partner WebMetro, an Internet marketing agency, to help optimize its online campaigns.

"We developed a robust keyword portfolio for the cellulite product line and optimized Murad's search campaigns to the point that we were getting very high search placements," explains Michael Behrens, vice president of eMarketing at WebMetro. "At a certain point, however, there is only so much search traffic to tap in to. We had to find ways to get in front of new people."

"We used to think that content advertising was only useful for increasing search conversions, but we found that you can achieve direct return on investment from content campaigns." Katherine LaFranchise, senior director of online marketing for Murad.
Hot topics
To increase sales volume, WebMetro recommended that Murad tap into Google's content network, comprised of hundreds of thousands of high-quality websites, news pages, and blogs that partner with Google to display targeted AdWords ads.

After creating several ad variations and delivering them to a multitude of targeted sites via the content network, Murad and WebMetro tracked each ad's performance using the Placement Performance Report (PPR) in AdWords. With the PPR, Murad was able to view detailed ad performance information, including what sites had shown its ads, the cost-per-acquisition (CPA) or sale, cost-per-click (CPC), and conversion rates.

"The PPR really helped us get a clear understanding of the sites that delivered and the ones that didn't," says Katherine.

For example, cellulitetreatment.org, a site dedicated to providing reviews on cellulite treatment options, drove strong results. "We weren't expecting the quality and quantity of sites on Google's content network dedicated to a topic as specific as cellulite treatments," says Michael. "There is literally no other way we could have created this type of targeted media placement on such a wide array of long tail niche-content sites."

Murad and WebMetro adjusted the campaigns to focus on those high-impact sites. The campaigns also benefited from the AdWords smart pricing feature. Smart pricing automatically adjusts the cost of each content network click based on the site's relevance to Murad's product. For example, if a particular click from a content network page is less likely to generate a sale, then Google technology automatically reduces the price Murad pays for that click.

"The release of the PPR gave us the insight needed to track and optimize content campaigns, and the results speak for themselves." Michael Behrens, vice president of eMarketing at WebMetro.

The new focus paid off. The content network campaigns delivered a CPA that was 13 percent lower than what Murad had achieved with search-based campaigns.

"We set higher maximum CPC bids on this campaign because information from the PPR showed that we were getting the best deal," Michael notes. "And, we continue to bid more aggressively on all of our content campaigns today."

"It proved to be just the solution we'd been looking for," says Katherine. "Not only did we lower our CPA, but we increased sales of our cellulite product line by 15 percent."

More than skin deep
The campaign's success has led Murad to restructure its approach to paid search. "The release of the PPR gave us the insight needed to track and optimize content campaigns, and the results speak for themselves," says Michael. "We will soon be launching another campaign for Murad using Google's content network, and we are also heartily recommending it to other clients."

"We used to think that content advertising was only useful for increasing search conversions," says Katherine. "But we found that you can achieve direct return on investment from content campaigns."

You will also be interacting with other users using the same service through the WICE.box. This means a nearly unlimited number of services and tools can be provisioned on this platform. A classic example would be the VOD service where every user gets to play, pause, forward or rewind the movie he is watching. This is not available on any other platform. Some televisions are offering a close alternative but that too is restricted to the amount of memory on the device, also known as time-shift viewing. With the WICE.box, you can pause a movie and start it any time within the next 24 hours and it will start from the point you paused it. And if there are a number of movies that you have paused, you have the luxury of resuming any of them at your convenience.

Another example is TV-to-TV chatting where what you write on your TV screen (using a tablet PAD) will be displayed on the TV screen of the person with whom you are chatting.

In T-Education the student and teacher can communicate with each other through their television sets.


What do you mean by “Educational Services”?

Educational services include providing academic syllabus based Course contents, interactive questions and answers covering board exams, competitive exams etc. Additional features of this service are progress tracking, personalized advice to students etc. Progress tracking and personalized advice means maintaining a record of the students progress in a particular subject and suggesting improvements in the weaker areas.

Interactive Education is an addition to the conventional educational service. Multiple Private Tuitions with few students, t-blackboards, t-Notebooks, text, voice, video interaction etc figure on the list.

A T-Blackboard is a virtual blackboard where by the teacher writes down matter on his TV set using a pen tablet and it is displayed on the student's television. The teacher and student can interact with each other by actually penning down matter which will be displayed on their television sets.

The television can also be used as a notebook i.e., a T-notebook. For e.g. a student can use it to record all his notes and review them later. His current tuition teacher can approach us and hold classes over the network via his television. Such services are currently in the pipeline.


What do you mean by saying that my telephone line is capable of carrying more than just telephone calls and Internet?

A standard telephone installation consists of a pair of copper wires that the phone company installs in your home. The copper wires have lots of room for carrying more than your phone conversations -- they are capable of handling a much greater bandwidth, or range of frequencies, than that demanded for voice. DSL exploits this extra capacity to carry information on the wire without disturbing the line's ability to carry conversations. The entire plan is based on matching particular frequencies to specific tasks. So the same line can be made to carry voice, data and video without one interfering with the other.

The telephone cable that comes to your house comes directly from the telephone exchange. This means that there is no component between your telephone and the exchange. The wire going to other users cannot influence the working of your telephone or any service offered on your wire. Alternatively, in a cable network, this is not the case as it is a shared network.


What is DTH? How is it different from what you are offering?

DTH is a satellite based entertainment service that requires a small dish antenna and a set top box to be installed at the customer premises. It is a one way communication medium in which the set top box can only accept signals from the satellite but is unable to send any back.

Currently the major DTH providers are offering television channels, satellite radio and pay-per-view movies. The can offer a limited amount of local interaction like multiple angles, zoom, picture-in-picture etc.


What is shared and unshared bandwidth?

Bandwidth is a measure of frequency range and is typically measured in hertz. It is also a measure of speed of data transfer in a medium.

When lots of people are using the same media to communicate either with each other or with a server, it is known as a shared medium. The bandwidth is shared among all the users. When an individual path exists between every user and the server it is known as an unshared access. The bandwidth that is allotted is called unshared bandwidth. Typically, cable technology is shared bandwidth while ADSL is unshared.


What do you mean by upstream or downstream bandwidth?

The data that is transferred from the user back to the server is called upstream and the capacity of a medium to carry this data is called its upstream bandwidth. The data that is transferred from the server to the user is called downstream and the capacity of a medium to carry this data is called its downstream bandwidth.

Upstream bandwidth is required when data is to be sent to another user on the same network or to the servers for processing. For example, file sharing, photo album sharing, true VOD (including fast fw, rew etc.) , Audio-on-Demand, network gaming etc.


What all do I need to avail BSNL Multiplay services?

The prerequisites for BSNL Multiplay services are a Bfone and a DataOne connection. Both these services are available from BSNL and you can get more details by either calling 1500 or visiting www.bsnl.co.in.


Can I avail BSNL Multiplay services without having a DataOne connection?

No. At present BSNL is providing this service only to its DataOne customers.


I don't have DataOne. If I have to take both DataOne and Multiplay, won't this be more expensive than my cable provider?

DataOne is an Internet service and should be considered as a separate entity. It is not combined with BSNL Multiplay except that it is a prerequisite. If you already have DataOne, BSNL Multiplay will be priced competitively.


What is a WICE.box? Where do I get one?

A WICE.box is – A Window for Information Communication and Entertainment. It is a smart device that acts as an interface between your television set and the services being offered on BSNL Multiplay. The WICE.box is an advanced and fully-featured gadget that brings a host of conventional television and interactive services to the user. It provides an intuitive on-screen menu allowing the viewer to easily navigate through and search for programs. You can select radio and TV channels, send e-mails and SMS messages etc. and much more. A user-friendly 'Remote Control' is provided with the gadget to increase the flexibility of operation.


How will my WICE.box give me new services that will be offered later? Will I have to bring my WICE.box to you?

The WICE.box will be remotely upgraded to include any new features that are launched. This will be done seamlessly and transparently without you having to do anything.


I have a modem where I see only one port for my PC. Where do I connect the WICE.box?

You have what is called a single port modem. In this case, you will require a small Ethernet switch, similar in size to the modem. As shown in the diagram below, this switch will be placed between the Modem and your PC. The WICE.box, Modem and your PC will be connected to the ports of the switch using Ethernet cables.



Can I switch on my PC or use my phone when I am watching any of the Multiplay services on the TV?

Yes you can. The operating of a PC or Telephone has no bearing on the working of Multiplay services or vice-versa.


Can I connect to the Internet on the PC while I am watching any of the Multiplay services on the TV?

Yes, you can connect to the Internet and work while Multiplay services are running on the Television.


Will watching Multiplay affect my download speeds?

No. Your ADSL modem is configured during installation to ensure that either service does not affect the other one. In case you change or reset your modem configuration, you will have to register a call at the customer care center for modem reconfiguration.


Wouldn't Multiplay show an increase in my Internet bill?

Multiplay services are independent of your Internet usage. Since this is a closed network and does not require a connection to the Internet, you need not even switch on your PC to avail Multiplay services. Using Multiplay will not reflect in your Internet usage bill.


Why have you given a “USB” port on the WICE.box? What use is it to me?

You can connect your 'plug and play' devices like your web-camera, mouse, keyboard, Pen drive, tablet etc to your ¨USB¨ port.


Can I connect a second television to the same WICE.box?

The WICE.box has two separate output ports, one AV and one S-Video. You can connect your television to either of these ports and both will work at the same time. For example you may want to connect your TV to the AV port and your projector to the S-Video port. But do remember that the same signal is available at both the ports.


How about me getting a second WICE.box? Can I use it on the same DataOne connection?

No. Currently we are allowing only one WICE.box on one DataOne connection.


Even DTH claims VOD. How is your VOD different from it?

The Video-On-Demand offered on the DTH system is quite different from the VOD offered on BSNL Multiplay. In DTH, since there is no way to communicate with the service provider through the set top box, you have to call them or SMS them your request. They will then give you a time and a channel number where you will be able to see the movie of your choice. This choice is also currently limited to a few movies. This service is at best a Pay-per-View service, in which you pay for a single view of the movie. They decide how many times you can see the movie and they decide when you can start seeing it and stop seeing it.

In true VOD, which is offered by us, the WICE.box behaves just like your DVD player. You can start a movie when you like, pause it when you like and for whatever time you like, forward it and rewind it for whatever duration and even stop it and see the remaining movie later. This is only possible because of the two way communication between the WICE.box and the server. You have a choice of selecting from hundreds of movies while VOD offered by DTH providers have only a few movies in their repertoire.


Can my cable operator offer this VOD?

At present the cable technology used is predominantly analog. This means such services cannot be offered. Theoretically, all cable operators (and there have been very few) who upgrade their system to bidirectional digital communication can offer this service. This will still not be able to provide most other interactive services as the technology involved does not provide sufficient individual bandwidth for data intensive services, it being a shared medium.

Currently very few operators have upgraded to digital and out of them, all are unidirectional. Unidirectional means data can only be sent from the server to the set top box and not vice versa. This is also due to the fact that no cable set top box is designed for sending responses back to the provider.


Is the choice of content in VOD restricted to only Hindi movies?

We are offering various content including regional language movies, Marathi plays, Informational content like documentaries, educational content, Audio-Video tutorials, Songs, animation content etc are also being provided.


What are the channels I'll be able to view on the WICE.box?

All major entertainment and educational channels are available on BSNL Multiplay. A complete list is available at http://www.wicebox.com/channels.html We will be adding to this list as and when we get the distribution rights for other channels.


Which radio stations are available on the WICE.box?

Currently, ten Satellite based FM channels are available on the WICE.box. Some high quality WorldSpace channels are also available on a trial basis on the WICE.box.


How many movies are hosted on the Multiplay system? When will these be updated?

We have hosted about a hundred movies under various categories on the VOD server. You can see the list when you access VOD on the WICE.box. These movies will be constantly added to the list and approximately every fortnight you will see quite a few new movies coming in.


What if I want to request a movie/channel to be provided on the system?

You can send us an email at content at divinetaccess dot com with details of what you would like to see in VOD, Audio-On-Demand or Channels and we will try to source it.


How many times and for how long can I see a movie that I have “Accepted” to pay for?

As soon as you select “Accept” in the VOD menu for a movie, you are allowed to view it as many times as you like within the next 24 hours. After 24 hours of the “Accept” the session expires and you cannot continue the earlier session.

The local customer care center is open during business hours but you can call 1500 anytime. It is a 24X7 customer help service.

जिस पर टिका हे हमारे जीवन का आधार


सम्यक आसन

बहार शरीर न हिले - डुले , ऐसे बेठ जाओ , थिर यह तो केवल शुरुआता हे फिर भीतर न मन हिले
कोई कंपन न हो जब मन और तन दोनों नहीं हिलते तब आसन , आसन में अर्थ सिर्फ शारीरिक आसन का नहीं हे । भीतर ऐसे बेठ जाओ की कोई हलन - चलन न हो बहार का आसन तो भीतर के आसन के लिए सिर्फ एक आयोजन हे । तब बहार भीतर तुम रुक गये रुक गये यानि अब कोय वासना नहीं हे । अब कोय आंकांक्षा नहीं हे अ़ब चित में चंचल लहेरे नहीं उठ रही हे अब चित एक झील हो गया हे ।


सम्यक भोजन


और उतना ही भोजन लो जितना सम्यक हे । व्यथँ की चीजे मत खाते फिरो जो जरुरी हे आवश्यक हे । वह पूरा कर लो कुछ लोगो हे जिनका कुल जीवन में काम इतना ही हे : एक तरफ से डालो भोजन और दूसरी तरफ से निकालो भोजन इतना ही उनका काम हे । अपने भोजन को संभालो हम केवल मुह से ही नहीं आँख , कान , नाक से भी भोजन कर ते हे उसे संभालो जिसका आसन सम्हल गया जो बिलकुल शांत होकर बेठ ने में कुशल हो गया जिसके भीतर विचार की तरंग चली गयी , जिसका भोजन सम्हल गया जो देह को इतना देता हे जो आवश्यक हे न कम न ज्यादा कम भी मत देना कम और ज्यादा ये दोनों एक सिक्के के दो पहेलु हे . एक ज्यादा पर खा रहा हे एक कम खा रहा हे दोनों ही अति पर चले गये हे होना हे मध्य में सम्यक आसन , और भोजन सम्हाल लो फिर तीसरी चीज सम्हाल ने की क्रिया शुरू होती हे , निद्रा ।


सम्यक निद्रा



निद्रा सम्हाल ने का क्या अथँ होगा ? यह सूत्र बड़ा गहेरा हे निद्रा सम्हाल ने का क्या अथँ हे जेसे जागते में विचार शांत हो गये इसे ही स्वप्न भी शांत हो जाये सोते में क्योकि स्वप्न भी विचारो के कारण उठते हे । विचारो का प्रति फलन विचार का ही प्रतिफलन हे। स्वप्न विचारो की ही गूंज -अनगुंज हे दिनभर खूब सोचते हो तो रातभर खूब सपने देखते हो । जो भोजन के शोखीन हे वो रात सपनों में भी भोजन कर ते हे राज महेलोमे उनको निमंत्रण मिलता हे . जो कामी हे वो काम वासना के स्वप्न देखते हे । जो धनलोलुप हे वह धन लोलुपता के स्वप्न देखते हे जो पद लोलुप हे वह सपने में सम्राट हो जाते हे हमारे सपने हमारे चीत के विकारों के प्रति फलन हे ।



जब तुम शांत होकर बेठना सिखा जाओगे , भोजन संयत होजाये गा ( जोभी हम भीतर ले रहे हे वोह भोजन हे ) तुम्हारी खोपडी में कोई व्यथं की अफवाह डाल जाये तो तुम इनकार ही नहीं कर ते
हम कान लगाकर सुनते हे । हा भाई और सुनाओ ॥? आगे क्या हुआ ये सब आहार हे , वही देखो जो दिखाना जरुरी हे । वही सुनो जो सुन ना जरुरी हे । वही बोलो जो बोलना जरुरी हे ।
सम्यक भोजन से नीद सध जायेगी फिर नीद में भी तुम शांत रहो गे । स्वप्न विदा हो जाये गे । और एक अपूर्व धटना बनेगी जिस दिन नीद में स्वप्न विदा हो जाते हे उस दिन तुम सोते भी हो और जागे भी रहेते हो ।


हर चीज में मध्य को खोज लो ना ज्यादा खाओ ना कम । ना ज्यादा सोओ न कम । ज्यादा न बोलो न कम । मध्य को खोजते जाओ । आप ने देखा हे कभी रस्सी पर नट चलता हे बस उसी तरह अपने को संभालते रहो रस्सी पर , मध्य में न ज्यादा दाये झुको न बाये झुको , झुके के गिरे
ठिक - ठीक मध्य सध जाता हे । तो श्वास भी मध्य में चलती हे ।

4 Steps to Knowing God

The following are 4 Spiritual laws, or principles, that explain salvation and how to know God in a personal relationship. God created us to love us and to be in loving relationship with him. It is so simple that a child can understand it, yet few of us adults have really comprehended it. I pray that this will bring clarity to your spiritual journey and start you on the great experience of having God as your best friend.

1. God LOVES you and offers a wonderful PLAN for your life.
God's Love

"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 NIV).

God's Plan

[Christ speaking] "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly" [that it might be full and meaningful] (John 10:10).


Why is it that most people are not experiencing the abundant life? Because...




2. Man is SINFUL and SEPARATED from God. He cannot experience God's love.
Man Is Sinful

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Man was created to have fellowship with God; but, because of his stubborn self-will, he chose to go his own independent way, and fellowship with God was broken. This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference, is an evidence of what the Bible calls sin.

Man Is Separated

"The wages of sin is death" [spiritual separation from God] (Romans 6:23)

This diagram illustrates that God is holy and man is sinful. A great gulf separates the two. The arrows illustrate that man is continually trying to reach God and the abundant life through his own efforts, such as a good life, philosophy, or religion - but he inevitably fails.

The third law explains the only way to bridge this gulf...




3. Jesus Christ is God's ONLY provision for man's sin.
He Died in Our Place "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). He Rose From the Dead
"Christ died for our sins...He was buried...He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures...He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred..." (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

He Is the Only Way to God "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me' " (John 14:6).



This diagram illustrates that God has bridged the gulf which separates us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.

It is not enough just to know these three laws..






4. We must individually RECEIVE Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
We Must Receive Christ

"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become , even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12)

We Receive Christ Through Faith

"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).



When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth

"Jesus declared, 'I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.' " (John 3:3).



We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation
[Christ speaking] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him" (Revelation 3:20).



These two circles represent two kinds of lives:



1. The Self-directed life

Self is on the throne. Interests are directed by self, resulting in discord and frustration. Christ is outside the person's life.





2. The Christ-directed life

Christ is on the throne. Self is yielding to Christ. Interests are directed by Christ, resulting in harmony with God's plan.

God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart.

To Know God, it is as easy as a prayer....
Giving your life to Jesus is an act of faith that you can express through prayer.

Praying is simply talking to God. He knows you . What matters is the attitude of your heart, your honesty. We suggest you pray the following prayer:

"Lord Jesus, I thank you for your love and that you came into the world to die for me. I confess that I have directed my own life and that I have therefore sinned against God. I now want to put my trust in you and receive you in my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins. Make me the person you want me to be. I thank you that you answered my prayer and that you are now in my life. Amen."

1. દરરોજ ૧૦ થી ૩૦ મિનિટ ચાલવા જાઓ અને હા, ચાલતી વખતે ચહેરા પર હળવું
સ્મિત હોય તો ઉત્તમ!
૨. દરરોજ ઓછામાં ઓછી ૧૦-30 મિનિટ માટે એકાંતમાં બેસો.
૩. દરરોજ ૭ કલાક ઊંધો.
૪. જોશ, ઉત્સાહ અને કરૂણા આ ત્રણ મહત્વના ગુણો છે જીવનમાં.
૫. નવી રમતો શિખો/રમો.
૬. ગયા વર્ષે કરતાં આ વર્ષે વધારે પુસ્તકો વાંચો.

Some time ago, I was able to preview Susan Gunelius' new book, Google Blogger for Dummies, which is now available to buy from your local bookstore. After receiving my own copy, I've spent the past few weeks reading intently in order to provide you all with my full review of this "Dummies" guide.

"Dummies" books are offered as complete guides on the given subject, where the information presented makes the subject easy to understand even for a complete beginner.

In Google Blogger for Dummies, Susan Gunelius offers a simple and comprehensive approach for understanding and making the most of the Google Blogger platform. Chapters range from "Setting up your blog" right through to "Making Money With Blogger" and "Boosting your Search Engine Ranking". This ensures that readers learn far more than how to use Blogger to publish our blogs: we can learn how to use Blogger to create an authoritative, income-generating and professional blog on the niche project of our choice.


What's covered in the book
Google Blogger for Dummies is split into six main parts, with each part containing several chapters which comprehensively detail an aspect of blogging with Blogger. Furthermore, each chapter is segmented further into mini-sections (usually no more than a page long) which offers detail, advice and information on the aspects of blogging you may encounter.



Part I: Introducing Google Blogger
This section offers a complete overview of Blogger and blogging in general, which is especially useful for those who are creating a blog for the first time.

By covering in brief the aspects of using Blogger which are detailed more fully in later chapters, Susan creates an excitement about choosing Blogger and anticipation of Blogger's effectiveness as a powerful blogging tool.



Part II: Using Google Blogger
In this section, we are presented with detailed instructions for creating and maintaining a Blogger blog, including how to initially create a blog; how to manage archives; comments and backlinks; writing blog posts; enhancing the appearance with templates, and using gadgets/widgets in the layout.

Each chapter is enhanced by screen-shots and useful tips to ensure we can easily follow the instructions and advice given. I especially enjoyed reading Susan's advice about choosing which subjects to write about, and issues of copyright/fair usage. Such considerations are often misunderstood (or even overlooked) by those who are new to blogging, and her expert advice shines light on what is otherwise a cloudy issue.



Part III: Making Money with Blogger
As pointed out in Google Blogger for Dummies, many people choose to start a blog in order to earn money from it. By devoting an entire part of this book to the subject of making money, Susan understands the needs of many Blogger users (both newly initiated and seasoned bloggers) and offers information most relevant for those using the Google platform as their publishing tool.

In this part, we can learn about the many different types of advertising we can add to our blogs to generate an income, including text links, paid posts, contextual ads, and of course Google Adsense.



Part IV: Growing your Audience
This section of the book offers practical, useful advice for growing the audience of our Blogger blogs which is presented and explained in a very "down to earth" manner.

Most bloggers are concerned with growing their blog's audience and increasing their authority in search engine rankings. I'm often asked about this aspect of blogging by Blogger Buster readers, but since this is something I've learned through a combination of gradual experience and "trial and error", it is not something I am expressly confident in explaining.

Susan's explanations are very clear and easy to understand. She explains the nature of relationship building for bloggers, how to network with other online writers and particularly how to optimize our blogs for search engine rankings. Advice to help track blog statistics, effective linking and keyword analysis are also included which I feel is a boon to new bloggers who may have little understanding of what these buzzwords mean.



Part V: Extending your Blog
This section offers details for growing and downsizing our blogs. By "growing", Susan refers to adding team members, writing for other's team blogs and creating a new blog linked to our blogger profiles. "Downsizing" refers to the practise of deleting a blog we no longer wish to own.

In this section, we can also find details of blogging with different media (such as email posts, video blogging and posting via a mobile phone). Custom domains and FTP blogging are also discussed for the benefit of those who prefer to associate their blogs with their own domain name.



Part VI: The Part of Tens
In all "Dummies" guides, the "Part of tens" is used at the end of the book to reference key points or resources appropriate for the particular subject of the book.

In Google Blogger for Dummies, the Part of Tens includes:

Ten useful social networking and social bookmarking sites
Ten common Blogger problems and possible solutuins
Ten places to find free Blogger themes and templates
The "Blogger problems" section was the one I found particularly useful as it covers problems which Blogger Buster readers have contacted me about with regularity. These issues are explained in detail, along with problem-solving solutions and ideas for prevention so these issues do not occur again.



Excellent Presentation
One of the reasons I am a fan of Dummies books in general is the overall presentation of these guides which enables readers to locate the information they require with ease and literally "dip in" at any stage to find useful tips or references.

The front cover is bold and unmistakably part of the Dummies series with a bold yellow background. Key points of the book's content are presented on both the front and back covers, along with a brief biography of Susan Gunelius - a professional blogger in her own right with expert status in marketing and branding.

A key aspect of presentation which I find useful in any technical guide is the use of headings and points to break up text, and appropriate hints relevant to the main content at key points. In this respect, Google Blogger for Dummies comes up trumps: the content is very well organised making it easy to follow; icons refer to tips, warnings and technical areas of the content, while highlighted text boxes enhance basic instructional sections with advice based on Susan's professional experience on a given subject.

The contents section actually comes in two segments: the first offers a brief overview of the parts and chapters, while the second is a comprehensive guide to include all major sub-headings (the individual topics) which are covered in the guide.

Near the end of the book is a comprehensive glossary which provides easy referral for key terms associated with both Blogger and blogging in general. Finally, a complete index offers a means of easily locating any terms or subjects with which we need particular guidance.

Unfortunately the screen-shots in Google Blogger for Dummies are in black and white, rather than full colour. Having read other Dummies guides before, I had not expected colour images; however, colour in some sections (such as when discussing templates and layouts) would have been more beneficial for readers of this guide to offer a more complete analysis of the sections being discussed.



So is it a complete guide to Blogger?
Almost, but not quite. The range of subjects discussed is very comprehensive in Google Blogger for Dummies and Susan Gunelius' expertise in blogging offers a highly comprehensive guide for building and maintaining a successful blog. However, there are a few small areas which I feel could be further enhanced, particularly as many readers of this guide will have little or no experience using the Blogger platform.

For example, in Chapter 16 when explaining how to purchase a domain from a third party, more information regarding changing the DNS settings would have been much appreciated. This aspect of using Blogger is often difficult to navigate, and while I understand that the process does differ between domain providers, an overview explaining key terms or a link to Blogger's help pages on this subject would lift the fog and enable new bloggers to manage this important aspect of Blogger much more easily.

I'm also concerned that the subject of editing the Blogger template is virtually skimmed over in this guide. Although the Layout>Edit HTML tab is briefly mentioned as a menu item and is referred to in the process of uploading third party templates, no explanation of how to manually edit the Blogger template is given. This may be a personal opinion, since editing templates is a key aspect of my experience with using Blogger; however, I'm sure that many readers of this book would have appreciated at least some advice, if only an overview of how Blogger template files are coded combined with HTML/CSS resources where more could be gleaned on this complicated subject.



In summary...
After having read most of the books available about the Google Blogger platform, I can honestly attest that Google Blogger for Dummies is the best and most comprehensive guide available. Rather than simply explain how to use Blogger, this book offers a complete guide to building a successful blog with Blogger, an interesting and wholly useful standard which few other books about blogging platforms have adopted.

I do certainly recommend Google Blogger for Dummies, particularly for those who are new to blogging or who have recently decided to use Blogger as their publishing platform. While certain advanced aspects of working with Blogger could be enhanced, the basics are all included, enabling even a complete novice to build, manage and maintain their blog using this easy to follow guide.
